Rollyo

Week 5 almost complete. I added a rollyo widget to my blog. Lucky there were instructions or I'd still be here next Christmas. It is good to have to repeat things as I slowly start to understand how to work around my blog and do things. I created an Environmental issues search engine using all Australian sites.
They are: www.acfonline.org.au; www.greenpeace.org.au; www.foe.org.au; www.amnesty.org.au; www.environment.gov.au; abc.net.au/news/environment; www.eianz.org; www.environmentbusiness.com.au; www.csiro.org.au;
I can see how creating your own search engine assists with limiting your searches and gives you relevant results.
Not sure if I could use it to create a search engine for books- type in the author, genre, character etc. May not be necessary, we do have fiction connection. Though I do like the idea of my own search engine that I can use instead of googling!

week 5 cont.

Library thing....Cannot post the html so will have to do some more research before I can display the widjet... here. It's time to go on desk. A few hours later, with help from annag have added some books from my library to my blog. However I forgot how to do it again.. and had to ask again. perhaps i am webdyslexic. the problem is if i don't use things often i forget how it works. Library thing is very interesting and it was good to see spanish books that I have been reading there. I haven't explored it in it's entirety. Great that there are different languages- 30 at the moment. A great resource and research tool. I fear I have only touched the surface.

Week 5

I found the generator blog frustrating. I clicked on a few and could not work out how to play with them. I found many of the images unappetizing. It wastes such a lot of time. Not my cup of tea. I'd rather people went out to play in the sunshine. I imagine if you found the right site it could be great for creating posters. I haven't worked out how to place the image on my blog.... yet. 22 oct 07 Even better, I have added the picture no need to use the link. Just had to remember to RIGHT CLICK on the image to save it. I'm slowly getting the hang of it. Obviously some of my frustration is due to lack of know-how. If i know the short cuts, practise, browse and ask for help it is so much quicker. The amount of trash out there is huge... purely a subjective comment, one persons trash is anothers gem.....

The blog won't allow me to use exclamation marks... very very strange...

It says: These characters are not allowed: (exclamation mark)

However it uses the character not words so why can i not use it (exclamation mark)

Have played around with the template, colours etc ... just starting to explore.

weeks 3 & 4: Mashups and RSS feeds.

Sucessfully did some RSS feeds- even though I thought I had not done them.. asked for help and Anna found that I had done some. I was trying to be more specific and was having no luck.

I have had no success with mashups and finding out how to do them. Will have to ask for help on those....

22 oct. 07 Have finally done it!! added a trading card! Picture found on flickr; It has taken me ages to work out how to do it... quicker with help from Donna. Interesting but -photos on flickr -fantastic. When doing a trading card from the bighugelabs.com creativity is limited- though this could be me!! however I get the idea.
